Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine
As part of a three-day intensive workshop, we were tasked with creating the visual identity of a suburban Parisian city of our choice
After conducting field research in the town of Saint-Ouen, we concluded that the word that best defines it is "patchwork"
In terms of its topography, bordered by the Seine and crossed by several highways and railway lines
In terms of its urban planning, divided into six districts, each with its own unique identity
In terms of its population, shaped by diasporas from multiple continents living side by side
In terms of its architecture, the streets display little uniformity, with modern buildings standing alongside old industrial structures and 1930s villas
We decided to visually translate this patchwork by creating a system based on a geometric concept, Voronoï, a mathematical principle that divides a space into regions based on the distance to a given set of points, resulting in irregular mosaics made up of interlocking polygons
This motif will be at the core of the visual identity, with these generative mosaics used as grids and graphic elements
